Welcome to another week of the Sunday Shield Project. Today’s scam topic is Fake Amazon scam.
So, what they do is send an email saying they’re from Amazon and they have a delivery, and if you dont recognize it, they say you should call in the given number for refund. Then you call them and they take control of your computer with a good software named Anydesk with your permission. Then they spoof up a fake command run page with the heading of your bank, say to enter your personal details and everything and the amount you want to refund there and for example if you typed 200 USD they’ll add two more zeros and make it 20,000 and say nothing is changeable. Then they lock your computer view, that means only they can see your computer for sometime. They go to bank account login again, and change a normal payment’s name into Amazon refund thing and add 20,000. That is just a number, not a refund. Thus they make a story that they gave us extra money by our mistake and they will ask us to send it back. Then you gotta send 20,000 USD in the postal mail to them. To not be found in checking, they usually require the victims to put it in each pages of a book and wrap it in foil and send it.
Tip: Don’t call back or email. Go to your own Amazon account and look if you have any unknown orders. Most probably there won’t.
